Paladin Bay, affectionately known on Woodbine's backstretch as "the horse that God loves", showed that she is one of Thoroughbred racing's most gifted three-year-old fillies with her whopping upset over heavily-favoured My Conquestadory in the 60th running of the $189,459 Gr 3 Selene Stakes at Toronto's Woodbine on Sunday, May 18th.
The multiple stakes winner, Paladin Bay, trained to perfection by Harold Ladouceur for his wife, Jessie, displayed grit and determination to win a hard-fought, thrilling nose victory with regular rider Gerry Olguin aboard.

The Ladouceurs, in a spirit of sharing and giving back to their sport, are donating a portion of Paladin Bay's 2014 purse earnings to the Woodbine Chaplaincy, which this year celebrates its tenth year at Woodbine.
The winners share of the Selene boosted Paladin Bay's career earnings to $534,887. She was a $10,139 yearling purchase in 2012.
The Selene Stakes is considered a major prep for the $500,000 Canadian Oaks, the classic for Canadian three-year-old fillies.
