Thoroughbred Makeover and Symposium Receiving Live HRTV Coverage

The Network for Horse Sports, will further expand its on-site live streaming coverage, via HRTV.com, of a very unique event -- the Thoroughbred Makeover and National Symposium -- from Pimlico Racecourse this Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5 and 6, 2013.

26 trainers from 15 states and Canada will perform with 26 ex-racehorses, which they acquired at the beginning of the summer, in 10 different disciplines.

Organized by the Retired Racehorse Training Project (RRTP), HRTV.com’s coverage presents an online premiere and exclusive look at the opportunities and successes for Thoroughbreds that have retired from racing as they transition to both English and Western horse sports.

HRTV.com will provide the live stream both days, commencing when the arena action begins each afternoon at 12:30 p.m. From that point on, 26 trainers from 15 states and Canada will perform with 26 ex-racehorses (which they acquired at the beginning of the summer) in 10 different disciplines.

The performances will run until 5:30 p.m. both days, and allows former Thoroughbreds to demonstrate their talents for second careers.

Following an Opening Ceremony at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, highlighted events are: "America's Best OTTB Jumpers;" "Ride Like a Jockey" demonstration, featuring Hall of Fame jockey, Chris McCarron; and "From Racing to Polo."  The "Western invasion" takes over at 4:30 p.m. with the "Extreme Racehorse Makeover Barrel Race," and the "Thoroughbreds' Ranch OTTB Rodeo Team Cattle Roping."

Sunday's festivities include: "Kids and their Racehorses," "The Cross Country Course: U.S. Eventing Assn.," "the Hunter Ring," "The Hunt Field," and "The Dressage Arena."
