The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association (TOBA) announced today that it will conduct a Pedigree and Conformation Clinic on Monday, August 6 and a Thoroughbred Ownership Seminar on Thursday, August 9 in Saratoga Springs, N.Y.

The Pedigree and Conformation Clinic, sponsored by Blood-Horse Publications, will feature conformation presentations and live evaluations as well as pedigree discussions that will include nicking, linebreeding, outcrossing and inbreeding. Clinic speakers include Darley Head of Sales, Charlie Boden, Equineline.com’s Tim Leith, Thoroughbred trainer Kenny McPeek, Dr. Greg Bonenclark, DVM, Doug Cauthen of Doug Cauthen Thoroughbred Management and Guinness McFadden of Three Chimneys Farm. The clinic will begin at 8 a.m. at the Fasig-Tipton Sales Pavilion. The registration fee for the clinic is $125 for TOBA members and $175 for non-members and includes all support materials, breakfast and lunch.
The Thoroughbred Ownership Seminar, also sponsored by Blood-Horse Publications, will feature discussions on industry business issues, options for acquiring horses including partnerships, auctions and claiming as well as a discussion about veterinary topics. Speakers include Jeff Cannizzo of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders Association, Sly Kiger of Kiger Insurance, accountant Andre Moglia, Amanda Simmons, an attorney with Shutts & Bowen, Matt Gatsas of Sovereign Stable, Gainesway Farm’s Debbie Easter, Thoroughbred trainers Bill Badgett and Dallas Stewart, West Point Thoroughbred’s Terry Finley, Laurie Lane of ReRun and Dr. Michael Chovanes, VMD. The seminar will begin at 8 a.m. at Fasig-Tipton sales pavilion and will include breakfast, lunch and an afternoon of racing. The registration fee for the Ownership Seminar is $75 for TOBA members and $100 for non-members and includes all support materials, admission to the track and meals.
