Fire officials in southwest Washington's Cowlitz County report that three Arabian horses died and another was burned in a fire that destroyed a barn this past weekend.

The Daily News of Longview reports that Robert Achenbach, the owner of the horses and the 2,000-square-foot barn, raises Arabians as a business, but the horses they lost Sunday were like family. Three other horses survived.

Robert Achenbach says he has insurance and hopes to rebuild. The horses included an 8-month-old foal and two adult horses aged 16 and 28.

The fire is considered accidental but is under investigation.
