Western Horseman and Barrel Horse News are sponsoring the nightly television coverage of the barrel racing competition held annually in Las Vegas, Nev., and slated this year for Dec. 5-14.

The two publications have teamed up to sponsor the nightly television coverage of the barrel racing competition for the legendary rodeo, held annually in Las Vegas, Nev., and slated this year for Dec. 5-14.

Now in its third year, Cowboyville has quickly become a favorite spot during the WNFR, serving as an entertainment destination inside the iconic Mandalay Bay. It is brought to rodeo patrons by Group W productions and Mandalay Bay, which streams the live nightly performances from the Mizuya Lounge.

Cowboyville also features exciting opportunities to win prizes, and as the sponsor of the nightly barrel racing coverage, Barrel Horse News has teamed up with Classic Equine, based in Granbury, Texas, to provide the prizes awarded during the Cowboyville nightly television coverage of the barrel racing competition.

The Classic Equine products will include bronc halters, hay bags, boot tote, Martin tooled picture frame and more. As a tribute to the partnership, many of the Classic items will feature the Barrel Horse News logo.

After the WNFR performances, the Cowboyville experience provides guests with the opportunity to relax or dance to live music and enjoy guest appearances from past and contending rodeo champions.

Amanda Johnson, marketing manager for the publications’ parent company, Cowboy Publishing Group, experienced Cowboyville activities during last year’s WNFR, and is excited about the collaboration.

“Last year, during my stay at Mandalay Bay I spent several evenings watching the WNFR coverage at Cowboyville and thought it would be a great way for Barrel Horse News to become involved in some of the events going on in Las Vegas during the WNFR,” Johnson said.

“Early this year, I began working with Group W and was able to negotiate the sponsorship between Cowboyville, Western Horseman and Barrel Horse News. I look forward to being in Vegas this year and being a part of the show.”

Western Horseman and Barrel Horse News will also host demonstrations by clinician Phil Haugen and legendary barrel racer Martha Josey during the WNFR inside the Roper Cowboy Marketplace, located in Mandalay Bay.

Roper Cowboy Marketplace features hundreds of western lifestyle shopping exhibits and daily entertainment. Haugen will be available for demonstrations Dec. 8-9, while Josey will be demonstrating Dec. 10 and 14.

Josey has accrued countless barrel racing titles throughout her competitive career, as well as having established herself as a trusted barrel racing clinician and author of multiple books on the topic.

Her awards have included 11-time WNFR finalist and American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA) and National Barrel Horse Association (NBHA) World Champion. Josey is excited to be involved in the demonstrations, which she says can be beneficial regardless of skill level.

“I’m excited that I will be participating,” Josey said. “And, having gone to the NFR for four different decades, I will be talking about how to get started in barrel racing, as well as how to solve some problems if you are already started. I’ll be giving some good tips for both levels of experience. "

"Plus, I love the shopping! I try to make it to all the different areas. A girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do.”

Haugen is a respected horseman who has honed his practical skills from rodeo competitions and many years of working with both people and horses to develop a trademark clinician program.

He is known for his unique colt-starting techniques and bases his training foundation upon strong fundamental skills, which he says are established from a trust-and-respect relationship between horse and rider. Haugen has been competitive in rodeos for years, in both the rough stock and timed events, and was given the prestigious Linderman Award in 1989.

Western Horseman and Barrel Horse News will also have a participating booth in Roper Cowboy Marketplace. Merchandise will include Western Horseman series books and subscription offers for the groups’ publications. World champion barrel racer, Charmayne James will also make appearances in the booth to discuss the new website, TrainingBarrelHorses.com.

Barrel Horse News launched the new subscriber-based website this year, and is partnering with James on the site to provide in-depth training for subscribers. New material is added to TrainingBarrelHorses.com each month to cover a range of barrel racing topics.

Now in its 18th year, Barrel Horse News continues to deliver up-to-the-moment event coverage, the latest in horse health innovations, and the most sought-after training and horsemanship techniques that connect readers with the most reputable resources in the barrel racing industry.

The release of the 2013 Stallion Register in the most contemporary digital format adds to the ease of access already provided via the printed magazine, website, Facebook page, and digital newsletters, the BHN Short Go and BHN Rodeo Insider.
