The long-awaited foal out of 2010 Horse of the Year and 2009 Breeders Cup champion Zenyatta was born March 8, 2012. According to Zenyatta.com, mother and baby are doing well, and the little dark bay colt, sired by Bernardini, has a star on his forehead and some white spots on his feet and resembles his Mom according to Zenyatta's report.
Zenyatta won the hearts of fans because of her numerous accomplishments and her 'Do or die' attitude.
When Jerry and Ann Moss, owners of Zenyatta left their home in California and arrived in Kentucky this past week, thoroughbred racing fans knew that the foaling was imminent. Zenyatta currently resides at Lane’s End Farm and that's where the Mosses were headed.
Many fans that don’t usually follow horse racing, applauded Zenyatta for running in 20 lifetime races and winning 19, falling short of perfection when she placed second in the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic, which was the final race of her career. But the other key piece in her popularity comes from her owner’s willingness to share her career with the public including through her diary which is updated frequently on Zenyatta.com.
