We are pleased to announce the third annual Boehringer Ingelheim Advancement in Equine Research Award Program.
Deadline for submissions for BIVI Equine Research Award is October 15, 2013.
The BIVI Equine Research Award will focus on one specific equine disease area each year. For 2013, the equine disease of focus is equine infectious disease.
Proposals must address one or more specific criteria to be considered:
Practical application and ability to improve the diagnosis, pathogenesis, transmission, control and/or prevention of equine infectious disease(s). Disease(s) can be bacterial or viral etiologies.
Boehringer Ingelheim will provide five $15,000 awards to the winning proposals for equine infectious disease research. Veterinarians, diagnosticians, public and private researchers in the United States and Canada are eligible to submit proposals for research programs that help advance the diagnosis, treatment and understanding of equine infectious disease(s). Winning proposals will be selected by an independent review board.
Once the five winning year-long research projects are completed and submitted for peer review, the Equine Research Review Board will conduct a second evaluation. Upon acceptance for publication of his or her findings, the first place award recipient will receive an additional U.S. $5,000; second place, $3,000; and third place, $1,000.
The 2013 Advancement in Equine Research Award recipients will be announced at the American Association of Equine Practitioners Conference in Nashville, Tennessee.
