The official slogan for the Equine Colic Awareness Month, which runs June 1-30, 2013, will be Surviving Colic Doesn't Stop Colic. Make a Change..

The chosen spokes-horse will appear on all promotional images for Equine Colic Awareness Month and will act as the official “face” of Equine Colic Awareness Month 2013. Photos of the horse, owners, trainers and/or riders will also appear on all social media channels including Facebook and Twitter, have a featured story on the Colic Crusade blog, and win a free SUCCEED Challenge registration donated by Freedom Health, LLC.

Owners can submit a personal colic survival story (anything from a minor gas colic scare to major surgery), along with a photo of their horse, on the Colic Crusade website (www.coliccrusade.com/spokeshorse). Submissions are accepted now through April 30, 2013. Each participant will receive a Crusade Against Equine Colic bumper sticker for submitting their colic story.

From May 1-15, 2013, equestrians will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite horse and story through Facebook. A lucky winner will be chosen based on community votes and will become the official spokes-horse for Equine Colic Awareness Month 2013.

The official slogan for the Equine Colic Awareness Month, which runs June 1-30, 2013, will be “Surviving Colic Doesn’t Stop Colic. Make a Change.” The goal of this year’s campaign will be to help raise awareness of how owners can help prevent colic through changes in how they feed and care for their horses.

The Crusade Against Equine Colic was formed in 2011 with the stated goal of saving as many horses as possible from deadly and debilitating bouts of equine colic, through education of the men and women who care for them.

The crusade was developed by Freedom Health, makers of SUCCEED® Digestive Conditioning Program®, to provide a forum for new thoughts and perspectives on this critical and costly issue, in order to empower owners, trainers and riders to make better, more informed decisions for themselves and their horses.

During Colic Awareness Month, the Crusade Against Equine Colic will deliver educational content, create conversations and raise awareness for equine colic prevention through the website and social media channels. Owners, riders and trainers are encouraged to join the movement and put a stop to colic in their own barns.

â€œWe truly hope that Colic Awareness Month is short-lived,” said John Hall, President of Freedom Health LLC, makers of SUCCEED and founders of the Crusade Against Equine Colic. “Because as people become more aware and better educated, they can take the steps that will make colic a much less significant problem. The real power to kick colic is in our hands through improved care and feeding practices. The more we can help through education and sharing, the more we can put an end to colic once and for all.”

Owners will have the opportunity to enter for a free SUCCEED Challenge registration during Colic Awareness Month, by submitting a personal colic story of a horse who passed away or survived. Entries will be accepted from June 1 through June 30, 2013, at www.coliccrusade.com/spokeshorse.

The winner will be chosen at random. (Official contest rules and conditions can be found at: Colic Crusade - Spokes Horse Rules. The SUCCEED Challenge was developed in 2010 to provide horse people with the opportunity to try SUCCEED for their horse without risk.
