Equine laminitis is a devastating condition impacting the equine population for decades, but despite research and development, progress has not advanced in reaching a solution.
Dr. Tom Schell is leading an equine laminitis research project that will study horses impacted by laminitis by focusing on three main points of care or management.

Nouvelle Research, Inc., in conjunction with Dr. Tom Schell, are currently conducting an equine laminitis research project, culminating prior research and clinical experience to further aid these equine patients.
The research study will focus on three main points of care or management:
- Barefoot trim with radiographic guidance to re-establish proper coffin bone alignment.
- Dietary evaluation to reduce carbohydrate intake, processed feed components, provide whole-food nutrients and prebiotics to aid in balancing the hindgut microflora.
- Targeted supplementation to focus on key pathways impacting inflammation and oxidative stress, which then contribute to pain, circulation, and tissue deterioration.
This is a clinical study and patients will be required to be hauled into our facility every 2 weeks for evaluation, repeat radiographs, trims and supplement regimen altering if needed.
Patients enrolled in the study will receive all exams, reevaluations, radiographs, and hoof trims at no charge. Supplement regimens may be provided at a minimal cost to cover expenses associated with the supplies and ingredients.
If you have a horse impacted by laminitis, please contact us promptly to enroll in this study and help to further our knowledge and approach to laminitis.
