Hart to Heart Fund - A Gift for Thoroughbreds

Diana Pikulski, Director of External Affairs for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation has announced that a gift of $74,000 from the Social Visionary Fund has been made to the Foundation. The funds have been designated to cover costs for preventive veterinary care, medical treatment for illness and injuries, as well as emergency care, for all horses in TRF’s programs for whom vet care is not already sponsored by other donors. has been made by Sophie Stenbek in honor of her horse Hart.

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) is the largest equine rescue organization of its kind.

The gift was given by Stenbek in honor of her horse Hart and will be known as the "Hart to HeartFund." Commenting on her gift, Stenbeck said, "I know the cost of keeping a herd of 1,000 horses healthy. I am happy to provide the TRF these funds so that good vet care is not an issue."

John Moore, Chairman of the TRF noted that  "Sophie's parents were great friends of mine, and I've been fortunate to know Sophie since she was very young. She has always loved animals, and particularly her horses.  We are indeed fortunate that she has taken an interest in TRF."

The Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation (TRF) is the largest equine rescue organization of its kind, devoted to the rescue, retirement, rehabilitation and retraining of Thoroughbred racehorses no longer able to compete on the track.
