On March 29, 2016, at 7 - 8 p.m. ET, Dr. Carissa Wickens, Extension Equine Specialist, Department of Animal Sciences, University of Florida will be presenting an online webinar on How to Assess a Horse's Health and Welfare. The webinar is presented by My Horse University and eXtension HorseQuest.
This webcast will help participants learn and apply equine welfare principles that lead to improvements in the care and management of horses and participants will be introduced to current advances in equine welfare science and to valuable resources relevant to the welfare of horses.

Dr. Carissa Wickens is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Florida, and serves as an Extension Equine Specialist for the state of Florida. Her current responsibilities are to develop and implement equine education and outreach programs and to conduct applied research in the areas of equine management, behavior and welfare.
This webcast is intended to help participants learn and apply equine welfare principles that will lead to improvements in the care and management of horses. The importance of equine welfare and definitions of welfare will be presented. Participants will also be introduced to current advances in equine welfare science and to valuable resources relevant to the welfare of horses.
