Freedom Health, makers of the popular equine digestive product SUCCEED® Digestive Conditioning Program®, has once again named the month of June “Equine Colic Awareness Month,” with a month-long awareness effort in conjunction with the Crusade Against Equine Colic.
Equine Colic Awareness Month is designed to raise awareness and build community around the issues of colic and colic prevention.
Throughout the month of June, the Crusade Against Equine Colic will provide colic prevention-related content through various outlets that will help owners implement practices that may reduce their horses' risk for colic.
Throughout the month of June, the Crusade Against Equine Colic will provide colic prevention–related content through various outlets. Further promotional activities will aim to garner the engagement of horse owners and trainers, encouraging them to share their own personal colic stories and ideas.
People are asked to write about Equine Colic Awareness Month on their own personal websites, Facebook pages, blogs, etc. Active participants and partners in Colic Awareness Month activities will have opportunities to win prizes, including free SUCCEED products, gift cards for various equestrian retailers, and a free colic e-workshop from Equine Guelph.
“Equine Colic Awareness Month will be bigger this year,” said Patrick Warczak, Jr., VP – Marketing for Freedom Health. “As one aspect of the Crusade Against Equine Colic, we are seeking to draw attention to equine colic.
Through our educational effort, and by encouraging sharing of ideas and stories, we will help owners implement practices that may reduce their horses’ risk for colic. We will measure our success by the number of people involved and, ultimately, by the number of horses saved.”
As a result of a recent promotion, SoCo, a six year old Appendix Quarter Horse owned by Taylor Allen of Mulberry, FL, was named the Official “Spokes Horse” of Equine Colic Awareness Month, 2013. SoCo will be featured in communications for the campaign this year. SoCo was selected from a number of horses whose colic survival stories were submitted to the Crusade Against Equine Colic.
The Crusade Against Equine Colic was formed in 2011 with the stated goal of saving as many horses as possible from deadly and debilitating bouts of equine colic, through education of the men and women who care for them.
The crusade was developed by Freedom Health, to provide a forum for new thoughts and perspectives on this critical and costly issue, in order to empower owners, trainers and riders to make better, more informed decisions for themselves and their horses. To learn more, visit www.coliccrusade.com.
