Horse owners have been told to keep their horses secure after a stallion broke loose and nearly caused an accident on Chorley Old Road, Lancashire on the 8th July.
An accident was prevented after three locals stepped in to stop the horse. The RSPCA was contacted for help with the situation. However, no one was available to attend the scene . Kathy Kay, who works with the charity, said that action needs to be taken to find out who the horse belongs to and that people are tethering horses near dangerous roads.
“The damage to the horse, property and people, could have been horrendous, she said. I’m very concerned people are tethering horses in dangerous places like the side of the road.” She added: “Action should be taken when the police find out who he belongs to.”
In recent months, there have been a number of incidents involving tethered horses. Last month, locals in York expressed their concerns after a tethered horse was discovered dead on land near to a shopping centre, resulting in an investigation being launched by the RSPCA.
