Seminar to Educate Thoroughbred Buyers and Consignors about Common Airway and Radiographic Issues with Sale Yearlings
As a result of the overwhelmingly positive feedback received following their Sales Seminar in Saratoga on July 18th, Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital is excited to host a second educational forum discussing sales yearlings on August 16th at the Embassy Suites in Lexington, Kentucky. An expert veterinary panel will present radiographic images of joints and endoscopic videos of throats in sales yearlings. The panel, moderated by Bart Barber, DVM, and featuring veterinarians from Rood and Riddle, will discuss different types of radiographic and throat abnormalities and their impact on sales and racing with and without surgery. The panel will also review the recent changes in the conditions of sale regarding Veterinary Radiographic Reports at public auction and answer questions from the audience.

Dr. Bramlage, an orthopedic surgeon at Rood & Riddle Equine Hospital, is a member of the Jockey Club and past president of both the American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) and the American College of Veterinary Surgeons. Scott Pierce and Debbie Spike-Pierce, well respected members of Rood and Riddle’s ambulatory division, are known throughout the Thoroughbred industry for their expertise with sales horses, and, provide services for consignors and buyers at all major Thoroughbred auctions
“There is a significant amount of concern revolving around the changes that sales companies have made to conditions of sales. We feel that it will be beneficial and timely to get together and share our perspective on veterinary reports and discuss some of the radiographic and endoscopic findings that will likely be encountered.” said Dr. Bart Barber of Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital.
A welcome reception with light hors d’oeuvres will begin at 6:30pm for early arrivals with the panel discussion from 7:00-8:30pm. RSVP is not required for attendance but requested to assist plans for adequate seating and refreshments. If you plan to attend, please RSVP by August 11 to rreh@roodandriddle.com or by phone to (859) 233-0371.
